Question about thoughts, their influence on us and personality?
Basically, do you think
a) that we can influence our thoughts and consciously change them, thereby changing our emotions and actions OR that our emotions and actions are influenced by our thoughts, which we cannot change because they are unconscious processes.
b) that we can change our personality through consciously changing our thoughts.
Please elaborate on your answers, anyone with a simple yes or no will not get best answer 
I believe we can influence our thoughts and consciously change them, thereby changing our emotions and actions but the degree to which we can do this I’m not sure. The limbic system is thought to cause emotion and affect the was we react to certain stimuli, but research suggests that we control this emotion with the prefrontal cortex. The prefontal cortex has a role to play in higher level processing – our concious thinking. So yes, I suppose we change our behaviour every day based on not only unconscious but also concious decisions. Ultimately, however, all your behaviour is deterministic. There’s no way of escaping that.
